The bluejay is a living thing because it can grow,reproduce,and develop to its suroundings...

1. Grow

From its bill to its tail its length is 22–30 cm and weighs 70–100 g.its hard to tell the diference for male blue jays and female. They are said to be sexual monomorphic¨ or look exactly the same.

2. Reproduce

A blue jay can produce two to seven eggs.Baby bluejays stay with their mother for only one to two months. A blue jay lays 1 egg a day.the eggs are a bluish or light brown with brownish spots. the blue jays eggs are 1.0-1.3 inches x 0.7-0.9 inch in size. It takes 17-18 days for the eggs to hatch.

3.Develop to its suroundings

A blue jays bird mimics the calls of hawks, mostly the red shouldered hawk. The calls tell othere blues jays that a hawk is in the area.Blue jays are very territorial. the blue jays will chase cats, dogs and somtimes humans who go near their nests\homes or feeding areas.

Here is how the blue jay meets its needs:

Nutrients and energy:

The blue jay eats nuts, eggs,worms,seeds such as acorns, and soft fruits. The blue jay is a ominivor. The blue jay get its energy by eating, they digest the food that gives them energy.

Water:

A Blue jay bird drinks water by dipping their beak into the water and then tipping their head back for the water goes down their thoat.

Air:

A Blue jay bird breathes the same as most animals, through their lungs and has tiny nostrills on their beak.

Habitat\shelter:

Blue jays live in forests in southern Canada, eastern and central USA, south to Florida, and northeastern Texas. The blue jay will make its nest out of twigs and leafs.
